Static vs. dynamic QR: what's the difference
Both types look identical — a black-and-white square. The difference is in what's inside.
Static
The link is baked right into the image. Upside — it works without any service. Downside — you can't change the address, and there are no scan statistics. It's fine for one-off things: a Wi-Fi password, a receipt, a link that never changes.
Dynamic
A short intermediary address is baked into the code, and you change the final destination in your dashboard. Upside — editability and analytics. Downside — it depends on the service (which is why a reliable one, with backups of every link, matters).
Bottom line
For anything printed on physical materials that needs to last — business cards, signage, packaging, merch — go dynamic. Reprinting a whole run costs more than editing a single link.
